Sean Hopkins, The Assistant Professional at Wexford Golf Club, along with his Mother, Catherine Hopkins and family have for the last three years organised a Golf Fundraising Scramble in memory of their late Husband and father Eamonn Hopkins.

Eamonn passed away in March 2020 and one of his favourite sayings was “Trust Me” an expression familiar to all who knew him.

The family have now raised over €23,000 over the three years. The first two years Wexford Hospice Home Care was the beneficiary. This year the family nominated Charity was South East Radiotherapy Trust (SERT).

SERT is a registered Charity run entirely by Volunteers who provide free and essential daily transport to cancer patients who are undergoing radiotherapy treatment at Whitfield Hospital, Waterford. The service depends on donations to continue to provide the service.

The Golf Scramble at Wexford Golf Club was generously supported by the Hopkins Family, Sponsors, SERT Volunteers, and Members of Wexford Golf Club who played or donated to the event. Thanks to all who played or donated.

The Winners of the event were, John Bergin, Derek Deane, Ian Murphy and Nigel Byrne. Well Done to the Winners and to all who played in the event.

South East Radiotherapy Trust are extremely grateful to the Hopkins family for this huge donation that will help them continue to provide this vital service to cancer patients.

Sean and Catherine Hopkins presented a Cheque for €7,960 to Ray Heffernan and Martina Dempsey (Joint Coordinators of Sert Wexford) and Eamon Tierney (Board of Directors SERT).
